This weekend Kevin Whitaker will speak and lead a discussion related to the UU Principles of compassion in human relations and the right of conscience in the democratic process. More specifically, I grew up surrounded by small c conservatives: people who revere tradition, religion, and generally drag their feet against what many would consider “progressive” (yes, these things apply in a political realm as well, but I’m attempting to come at this a bit more broadly).
