From Principles to Values

At our July 26 CVUU service, we will explore the recent transition by the UUA from our seven principles to “Our Shared Unitarian Universalist Values.” Building on the foundation of love, the UU values are generosity, transformation, equity, pluralism, interdependence, and justice. What is the reasoning behind this significant change? Specifically, what impact will this have on both our secular and church lives? The Current Political Movement Against Disability Rights from a Sociological Perspective

On June 18th 2026, the current DOJ published a memo stating that the 1999 Olmstead Supreme Court decision did not uphold the Rehabilitation Act or Title II of the ADA, stating that states must provide the most community-integrated care possible to individuals with mental disabilities. This memo comes as a major multistate lawsuit, Texas V. Kennedy, has been filed against the Rehabilitation Act requirements and nationwide cuts to social services funding. These legal and policy actions leave disabled individuals without necessary care, force them into further poverty, and threaten to reinstate mass institutionalization. A talk about the experience of being a mortal creature in a fragile body, swimming in an ocean of tremendous mystery. How do we come to find the energy of action when faced with the indescribable? How can we learn to harness the enervating presence of death, without being consumed by terror? Religions have capitalized the spiritual, and we all suffer hermeneutical injustice without the language to describe the divine. What America Will Be

This Sunday we will stream from First Unitarian of Salt Lake. In her sermon, Reverend Monica Dobbins reflects on her conflicted response to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, expressing skepticism about patriotic celebration in light of injustice, inequality, and unmet national ideals. Breakfast & UUA General Assembly Broadcast

Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM for coffee and breakfast, followed by a shared viewing of the UUA General Assembly Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 AM. The Sunday morning worship service is the heart of General Assembly, bringing our wider Unitarian Universalist community together in shared spirit. Through music, preaching, and ritual, we will ground ourselves in our faith and be renewed for the work of justice, compassion, and community in the world.
