The Poetry of Winnie the Pooh

We’re doing something different this month: all of the services will touch on that beloved childhood character, Winnie-the-Pooh. Logan City’s Poet Laureate Starr Coulbrooke will speak on the poetry of Pooh Bear.

We’re doing something different this month: all of the services will touch on that beloved childhood character,  Winnie-the-Pooh. Drawing on the Tao of Pooh, this Sunday we will look at how Winnie-the-Pooh characters and their place the 100 Acre Woods serve as excellent examples to understand the basics of Taoism and provide broader lessons on joyful living.

Ellen Klomps will take a look at what Winnie the Pooh has meant to her and her family in a “This I Believe” format. The “This I Believe” series provides an opportunity for members and friends of CVUU to reflect upon beliefs and core values that guide us in our daily lives and to share the diversity of beliefs of our congregation.

Love & Survival

When we think of survival, we often think in terms of having enough food or adequate shelter, but we should not overlook the need for love. In order to survive it is necessary not just to be loved by others but to feel love for others. To believe that one cannot be replaced in your community.

Conflicting Fireworks of Patriotism

Independence Day for many consists of fireworks, parades, and barbecues.  As we gather to celebrate our independence from Britain, we contemplate on what freedom means.We will explore this complex subject and how our spiritual community works together to continue to reshape the vision set forth on July 2, 1776.
