Archives: Services

Winne the Pooh

We’re doing something different this month: all of the services will touch on that beloved childhood character,  Winnie-the-Pooh. Ellen Klomps will take a look at what Winnie the Pooh has meant to her and her family in a “This I Believe” format. The “This I Believe” series provides an opportunity for members and friends of CVUU to reflect upon beliefs and core values that guide us in our daily lives and to share the diversity of beliefs of our congregation.

‘This I Believe’

This series provides an opportunity for members and friends of CVUU to reflect upon beliefs and core values that guide us in our daily lives and to share the diversity of beliefs in our congregation. This Sunday’s ‘This I Believe’ will be a little different and will focus on Elie Wiesel, a holocaust survivor and lifelong voice for those with no voice. Our Fifth Sunday Potluck will follow the service. Bring a dish to share or come as you are. All are always welcome!

Love & Survival

When we think of survival, we often think in terms of having enough food or adequate shelter, but we should not overlook the need for love. In order to survive it is necessary not just to be loved by others but to feel love for others. To believe that one cannot be replaced in your community.

Empathy and Violence

This Sunday, we’ll be talking about how violence and empathy interact in our world, and we’ll explore as a community what we can do to model and teach empathy to make the world a safer place.

Conflicting Fireworks of Patriotism

Independence Day for many consists of fireworks, parades, and barbecues.  As we gather to celebrate our independence from Britain, we contemplate on what freedom means. We will explore this complex subject and how our spiritual community works together to continue to reshape the vision set forth on July 2, 1776.
