Gender Disparity in Clinical Research

Until 1993, clinical research studies did not require the inclusion of women. Today, only 4% of biopharma research and development spending is dedicated to female-specific conditions. Approximately 75% of clinical trial participants are men, while only 25% are women. Why does gender disparity remain so significant in medical research, and what impact does this have on underrepresented demographics?
