This is a special service of listening to the stories and perspectives of Black Lives of UU. First we will try to understand why “Black Lives Matter” is a critical movement deserving of our attention, and not a statement against All Lives Matter, but a companion to that sentiment. Then we will open our hearts/minds to perspectives that we may never have thought of or some that even make us uncomfortable…in doing so, we will honor the “inherent worth and dignity of every person.”
A special note for this service: We are requesting that each member/attendee donate $10 to the Feb. 4 service, being held nationwide in UU churches, to honor The Promise and The Practice. From the UUA website: “The Promise and the Practice is a turning moment; a choice to listen deeply to the stories in our movement that have not been heard, and taken to heart, by all Unitarian Universalists.”
