Dave Christian and Paul Rogers will facilitate a discussion of issues raised on March 1. There will be a short introduction, then we will open it up to the group to (hopefully) help us craft future directions for clear-eyed open communication that avoids alienation of those with alternative views at CVUU and respectfully engages those outside our spiritual community. Teaser: What if all our speaking at CVUU – readings, presenters, announcements, Joys/Concerns, discussions – assumed there was a first-time visitor in attendance for whom we had no idea what their ideological or political beliefs were?

A “Welcoming Culture” creates: honesty, openness, and spontaneity on one side and sensitivity, nonoffensiveness, and inclusivity on the other side. As we discussed earlier, this is a tricky dialectic to balance.
