Welcome Jessica Clay: Visiting UU Minister

For those of you not in attendance at the Membership Dinner, I announced that we will have a special guest minister this summer. Jessica Clay will preach June 5, June 12, & July 3. Jessica has been a candidate for Fellowship with the UUA and a seminarian at Starr King School for the Ministry. She graduates this month with her Masters in Divinity. She will be spending her summer in Salt Lake City. She has preached     extensively in churches in the San Francisco Bay Area. Occupational therapy was her first career. She worked with children with special needs in the Los Angeles School District. Welcome new CVUU Music Coordinator!

The CVUU Personnel Team and Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that we have hired a new Music Coordinator.  A friend of outgoing Music Coordinator Michelle Wiltgen, Ms. Lyndi Perry is from Tremonton and is a Masters student at Utah State. She sings and plays guitar with the folk-rock band Solduro and sometimes serves as MC at Open Mic at Eagles. Starting June 1, Lyndi will be responsible for the musical component of Sunday services throughout the year, sometimes performing herself, sometimes leading us in song, sometimes inviting in a guest from her network of fellow musicians. Please welcome Lyndi as she learns her new musical gig.

In New Orleans, UUs join protest against Gulf drilling

In an effort to stop new oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, at least two dozen Unitarian Universalists joined over 200 Gulf Coast residents and climate justice groups for a major rally inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans during a federal oil lease auction on March 23. Activate for Social Justice!

Don’t just learn about justice — do justice! This one-week training for high school youth offers interactive social justice education and meaningful work with local organizations engaged in the climate justice movement. Participants will see firsthand Boston’s historic roots as a harbor city built primarily on landfill, and how that pushes up against the city’s future as climates change and sea levels rise. In a program grounded in UU values and practices, participants will learn about systems of privilege and oppression and how we are called to respond to our world’s changing needs.
