And what happens to me is, I end up getting sick. So, trying to present myself as invulnerable is a risk to my body – the stress goes somewhere. The gravest danger, though, is in the risk to the larger body – the risk of disconnecting from those who are prepared to give me a shoulder to hold onto. Real community, closeness, is created when vulnerability happens…”
