Protecting Our Birds

Cats and windows are the leading human caused sources of mortality for native birds in the United States. Cats are estimated to kill 6 billion birds per year and window collisions kill 1 billion birds per year in the United States. This is an area where an individual can make a significant contribution to preserving biodiversity. Kim Sullivan will talk about what you can do around your house or apartment to provide a safe haven for birds. She will also bring examples of window treatments that are effective in preventing collisions.
