For those who are newer to CVUU the Water Communion service is a tradition that is performed yearly in many UU congregations. Traditionally, many UU churches would take a break for the summer (some still do) between Memorial and Labor Day, often the Water Communion is one of the first services upon returning from the summer break. Members bring a small amount of water from somewhere that is special to them (we always have symbolic water available for people to use). During the service all the water is poured into a single vessel and the person who brought it can tell the congregation why it is special to them. The combined water is symbolic of our shared faith coming from many different sources.
As always, all are welcome to join us for refreshments and conversation after the service as well.
