In the new year, we are hoping to ramp up our adult RE efforts. addition, Tuesday Jan 19th at 7 pm, I will be leading our first adult RE program of the year. This program will be a discussion group centered around the work of Joseph Campbell, who was an expert in comparative mythology and comparative religion.
We will be meeting for 6 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at CVUU with the exception of the first Tuesday of the month which is Socrates Café. We will be watching 1 hour sessions of The Power of Myth (check out the link below for more info) which is a series of six 1 hour interviews with Joseph Campbell by Bill Moyer at George Lucas’s ranch. We will then have up to a half hour discussion of the video clips afterwards. No prior reading or homework is necessary! It is helpful to watch the video clips in succession but not required to attend the prior week’s discussion to be an active participant in each weeks discussion. All are welcome to come even if you can’t stay for the whole discussion! If you have ideas for additional future adult RE programs, please attend the meeting this Tuesday!
